"Tourism education Initiative"

College of Tourism, Rikkyo University and the leading Japanese tourism companies create the consortium to develop and implement the education program for accepting excellent foreign students from top level universities in Asia and nurture "human resources for tourism in Asia" who work in the tourism industries in Japan.

1. Special education program with collaboration between industry and academia

Front-line practitioners in tourism in industries give a lecture on the global trend of the industry, role of the industry in the society and detailed business scenes.

・Introduction to Tourism Industry / Special Lecture in Transportation Industry / Special lecture in Travel Industry / Special Lecture for Hospirality Bussiness

・Communication in Hospitality / Project Planning Practice in Tourism

2. Business Japanese language

This education aims to improve the level of Japanese language skill of foreign students with 1st or 2nd grade in Japanese language proficiency test to J1+ level or higher. Classes are divided according to the level and purpose of students, including a class for basic grammar and a class for practical subjects specialized in business scenes, in order to provide individually-targeted teaching to students of different levels.

3. Japanese business education

Deepen the understanding for outline of industry structure in Japan, Japanese business custom, Japanese-style system of decision making and Japanese way of hospitality represented by the term "motenashi" to develop ability to respond to companies in Japan

4. Internship program

Internship training is implemented with a focus on "Project type". In addition to learning the Japanese working style and communication styles through the actual experience in the workplace, this program focuses on developing "ability to think logically" and "ability to analysis".

5. Job hunting support

Under cooperation with Rikkyo Career Center, implement special programs for foreign students participating in Tourism Education Initiative and develop system for a generous support.

Develop "human resources for tourism in Asia" to play a key role in global strategies in tourism related companies in Japan for the era of great exchange within Asia

Highly-specialized human resources for tourism who can understand corporate culture and business custom unique to Japan and who can make the best use of excellent language skills, communication skills and network in home country, with special knowledge required for strategy of Japanese companies for Asia
