Outline of program
"Strategic Human Resources Development Program for Highly Dependable Embedded System Technologies"
Develop "Strategic human resources in the field of embedded software" as highly specialized engineers engage in the development of highly dependable embedded system, aiming to nurture and secure highly specialized human resources for the advancement of embedded system industries whose global competitive edge supports the foundation of competitiveness of manufacturing industries in Japan.
1. Program for development and demonstration of specialized education under business-academia collaboration
Develop human resources for basic embedded software by providing wide range of lecture subjects on information science in a systematic curriculum of JAIST to learn basic knowledge as well as "Course for developing human resources for basic embedded software" (hereafter referred to as "Basic course") to acquire knowledge and skills for embedded software with high demand from companies.
1)Knowledge on technological elements such as "Telecommunication technology", "Information processing technology" and "Platform technology"
2)Skills for "Analysis of system requirements", "System designing" and "Test / Verification" that are in the upper stream process in the software development
3)Abilities to accomplish tasks for the development of complex and large-scale software under teamwork
2. Business Japanese language / Japanese business education program
During the first 6 months as a research student, implement preparatory Japanese education (total of about 540 hours) for foreign students from overseas universities who enroll in master's course of JAIST, aiming to acquire Japanese language skills equivalent of level 2 of Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
For 2-year period after the admission as a graduate student, implement Business Japanese education to acquire smooth communication skills in a Japanese company and deepen understandings of Japanese industries, corporate culture and Japanese culture through Japanese business training and Japanese cultural training.
3. Internship program
As human resources for embedded software are required to conduct development, verification and development management of embedded software under a close teamwork, internship aims to provide opportunities for students to learn and acquire specialized knowledge and technologies for work through actual development tasks with employees of companies participating in the project. Also this program provides opportunities for students to use Japanese in the actual business scenes and to have exchanges with various people in the company.
4. Job hunting support program
Implement basic seminars for job hunting for foreign students, various job hunting seminars to study industries mainly of embedded system, business manner training, simulation of job interviews, enhanced system for individual counseling by career counselors, preparatory lecture before employment (visas, items related to daily life), etc.
5. Survey program
Conduct interviews on knowledge and skills required for human resources for embedded software and survey on needs for the employment of foreign students to manufacturers of industrial machines, electrical equipments, and information and telecommunications equipments, aiming to collect information for the development of specialized education program matching the needs of companies and for requirements for foreign students from companies.
6. Program to promote foreign students
Implement PR of this program to teaching staff and students of Asian universities through visits to universities in Asia with an agreement for academic exchanges by JAIST teaching staff in charge of recruiting foreign students and by holding Study in Japan Fair in Asian countries. Appoint a coordinator from teaching staff of Asian universities to recruit excellent foreign students.
7. Project management program
Establish meetings and committees including Consortium General Assembly, Project Administration Promotion Committee and Program Promotion Committee to discuss and promote program policies, smooth implementation of program, etc. and implement the program under close and collaborative relations between industry and academia.
Theme
Accept excellent foreign students from Asia to develop them as "human resources for basic embedded software" through curriculum specialized in embedded software and practical internship in companies in Hokuriku region. This program targets "embedded software" with global competitive edge which is a key technology to enhance strength of Japanese industries as well as the most important element to determine the quality and functionality of various products and equipments.
Goal of human resources development
Development engineers who have basic knowledge and skills for embedded software such as analysis of system requirements and designing and who have practical knowledge and capabilities to develop dependable software under a close teamwork.
